It was supposed to be a camping trip. A flat tyre and no phone reception were not part of the plan. With darkness closing in, we left the car and went looking for help.That was when we saw the asylum.The place looked abandoned, but faint sounds drifted from somewhere inside. Footsteps. A distant conversation.
We called out. Nobody answered.

“We’re still here,” a woman whispered.
Behind her, the nurse looked up.
“Your room is ready.”
