I wasn't lost. At least, that's what I told myself.

Somewhere deep inside the Forgotten Forest, I decided that following a mysterious woodland path could wait. Ahead, an elegant dark arch rose over the trail, with wild flowers on either side and winding vines crawling up its trellis, while the forest beyond disappeared into layers of trees and shadows. It was beautiful, mysterious, and just suspicious enough to make me wonder what exactly I had gotten myself into.

Then I noticed the birds.

A little purple birdhouse stood behind me, complete with several cheerful feathered residents who immediately made their presence known. Were they welcoming me? Warning me? Gossiping about the strange woman parked beneath their trees? I suppose I'll never know. For the moment, I am perfectly happy taking a break to enjoy the beauty while sipping my soda. I enjoy the occasional quiet pause in a forest that clearly had plenty of secrets left to tell.
